Kalix Teknik – CR1 Cheek Riser – Tikka

So, a few months back I bought myself a Kalix Teknik CR1 cheek riser. This to me was almost a no brainer as an accessory to a synthetic rifle stock from Tikka. Specifically, my Tikka T3X/T1X rifle stock.

The CR1 comes in a small box with all the instructions and information needed to install this in your rifle stock.

I purchase mine to go onto a stock that I use predominantly at the rifle range for sight in work, load development and local match shooting. This stock is also equipped with an Arca-Swiss rail for attaching accessories.

Overall, you are getting what you paid for. In Canada it cost about 149.99 plus taxes (at the time of writing) I did have to wait a couple months for it to be in stock originally but since I ordered mine the store has had stock regularly when I check.

In the box you will find the following:

  • Polymer Cheek rest.
  • Aluminum housing block.
  • Allen bolt to secure the housing block.
  • 2 polymer stock molded interfaces.
  • Cheek rest retainer clip.
  • Knob for securing the cheek rest in position.

The aluminum housing block is machined to be light weight and strong featuring some hollow points to keep it light weight but rigid.

The polymer cheek rest has the same level of care and detail, lightweight construction but very firm and does not bend or twist when resting your cheek on it to shoot or any movement under recoil. It is very comfortable and easy to get a nice cheek weld in all weather and temperatures. The cheek piece even has a logo incorporated into the rear most section.

The securement knob is fantastic. I found it easy to use both with bare hands and while using gloves, this of course may depend on how hard you tighten it down prior to shooting. I have found you only require minimal strength when tightening as once it’s secure you don’t have any movement issues.

To install the CR1 is simple and straight forward, with minimal tools and time you can have this installed in your rifle stock quick enough for the next range session. I would say it took me all of 15 minutes not including clean up or setup. One thing to note is the foam located in the synthetic T3/T3X/T1X butt stocks can be a pain in the ass to remove but once you get it out its smooth sailing.

Once you get it installed set your height and forget it. This has made shooting at the range and local matches a more pleasant experience for me as I am not fiddling around with my cheek weld anymore. It is also an affordable way to make your factory rifle stock adjustable without spending hundreds of dollars on an aftermarket stock or chassis.

If you own a Tikka and you’re looking for an accessory that will help with cheek weld I can’t say enough good things about this.

The CR1 holds up to the abuse at the bench and in the wilderness.

I hope you enjoy your next range trip and remember to always practice safe muzzle control.

Cheers,

B
